Department: ICE | LPSL CPATH Cytogenetics Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: The Medical Laboratory Scientist I in the Cytogenetics Laboratory will be responsible for performing a broad range of testing in Cytogenetics Wet Lab and Analysis. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, Biology or an ASCP approved discipline. • ASCP Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), Medical Technologist (MT), or Cytogenetics (CG) passed within 12 months of eligibility to test Preferred Qualifications: • BSMT or BSMLS degree in Cytogenetics • Previous clinical laboratory experience. • Previous Cytogenetics experience • ASCP in Cytogenetics CG(ASCP) • General knowledge of clinical laboratory quality control practices. Additional Information: Job Duties: • This will include, but not limited to, processing and evaluating specimens and requisitions, cell culture and harvesting, chromosome analysis, imaging and karyotyping, and reporting. • In addition, the technologist will perform daily, weekly and monthly QC and preventative maintenance in their assigned areas for further review by the supervisor or Medical Director. • This requires one to maintain safe work practices, follow all regulatory requirements and procedures and engage supervisor, manager, director and other department staff as appropriate. • Perform other duties as needed.
