As a Mechanical Engineer I, you will design, test, and sustain advanced analytical systems while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to build instruments that accelerate biologic drug development. Responsibilities Design, build, and test opto‑electro‑mechanical systems to meet performance, reliability, and product requirements Collaborate hands‑on across mechanical, electrical, optical, fluidic, software, and scientific disciplines to develop and sustain life‑science instrumentation Prototype, iterate, and conduct system‑level testing to evaluate performance, troubleshoot issues, and refine designs Develop and execute component‑ and system‑level test methods, documenting results and engineering decisions to support development, manufacturing, and field service Participate in design reviews and support fielded products, driving continuous improvement while ensuring long‑term safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction Skills BS in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience Ability to work independently and in cross‑functional teams in a hands‑on R&D environment Experience with CAD modeling, mechanical drawings, and tolerancing for design and documentation Hands on experience building, testing, and troubleshooting physical systems SolidWorks for part, assembly, and drawing creation ASME GD&T standards for precision mechanical design Machining, bench‑level fabrication, or rapid 3D prototyping to support quick iterations Benefits Paid time off Medical/dental/vision insurance 401(k) Company Overview Beckman Coulter Life Sciences develops, manufactures and markets products that simplify, automate and innovate complex biomedical tests.
