Manufacturing Cost Accountant
About the position Cosmos is looking for their next ideal team player to join the Finance Team as the Manufacturing Cost Accountant. As a Manufacturing Cost Accountant, you’ll play a key role in connecting our production floor to our financial results, ensuring our leadership team has the insight needed to optimize costs, drive margin, and scale our business. Responsibilities • Serve as the finance partner to operations, translating production data into financial insights. • Own Cosmos costing processes: standard costing, job costing, re-rolls, reconciliations. • Prepare and record financial transactions related to inventory, COGS, and eliminations. • Provide clear analysis of trends, variances, and risks to help leadership make informed decisions. • Establish and maintain GAAP -compliant accounting policies and internal controls. • Lead and monitor physical inventory counts and accuracy of item costing. • Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting process for inventory and operations. • Support the external audit process. • Work cross-functionally with other teams to provide your finance expertise and support. • Other tasks as assigned. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required. • 3+ years of experience in cost accounting, retail inventory accounting, or manufacturing finance. • Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost allocation methods. • Advanced skills in Excel; experience with Power BI or BI tools is a plus. • A proactive communicator with analytical and critical thinking skills Nice-to-haves • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment will make you stand out.
