About the position The Manager of Medical Economics is responsible for collecting, validating, analyzing, and organizing data into meaningful reports for management decision making. This role involves designing, developing, testing, and deploying reports for operational and strategic analysis. The manager will oversee the Medical Economics Team, providing technical expertise and managing relationships with operational leaders and staff. They will direct staff on projects, maintain internal work plans, and ensure that the reporting needs of the Medical Economics Team are met. The position also includes daily management of data management, tools, and technology work streams, as well as coordinating with the Medical Economics team to meet data analysis and database development needs. The manager will review and evaluate business logic and data sources, mentor staff, and ensure the accuracy and clarity of analyst work products. Additionally, they will maintain reporting service level benchmarks and represent the Medical Economics department in cross-departmental meetings. Responsibilities • Manage and provide direct oversight of Medical Economics Team activities and personnel. • Provide technical expertise and manage relationships with operational leaders and staff. • Direct staff assigned to projects and maintain internal work plans. • Manage daily operations of data management, tools, and technology work streams. • Allocate new report/project requests and distribute workload. • Coordinate with Medical Economics team to meet data analysis and database development needs. • Review and evaluate business logic and data sources. • Mentor and coach staff on analysis questions. • Review Medical Economics analyst work products for accuracy and clarity. • Maintain reporting service level benchmarks for the EIM team. • Represent the Medical Economics department in cross-departmental meetings. • Create reports for strategic analysis, profitability, financial analysis, utilization patterns, and medical management. Requirements • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Math, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. • 3 years management or team leadership experience. • 10 years' work experience preferably with claims data and/or in a healthcare environment. • Strong knowledge of Excel, SQL, and Power BI report development. • Familiarity with relational database concepts and SDLC concepts. Nice-to-haves • Master's Degree in Finance, Economics, Math, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. • 3 - 5 years supervisory experience. • Experience in Population Health/Clinical Analytics. • Experience in Clinical Program Evaluation. • Experience in building clinical targeting models for Case Management. • Experience or strong desire to learn Python/PySpark. • Well-developed communication and presentation skills. • Strong interest in healthcare with an understanding of nuances that impact analytics. • Self-motivated to learn and expand domain knowledge and technical skills.
