About the Role The Manager Claims will play a pivotal role in investigating, evaluating, and resolving assigned professional liability and general liability claims involving TeamHealth's regional and specialty operations. This position requires a deep understanding of TeamHealth's policies and procedures, as well as industry best practices. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial resources of TeamHealth by efficiently coordinating activity on assigned claims/litigation and providing superior claim services to various stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: Claim Management: Directly manage assigned claim inventory to achieve operational goals and optimal outcomes on assigned cases. Multi-Jurisdictional Claim Handling: Manage and monitor medical professional liability claims across multiple jurisdictions. Reserve Management: Recommend and set timely and adequate indemnity and expense reserves. Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with attorneys, physicians, client hospitals, insurance carriers, and division leadership concerning the status of claims. Litigation Coordination: Assume a lead role in coordinating litigation management with defense counsel and Western Litigation. Settlement and Negotiation: Attend and participate in settlement conferences, arbitrations, mediations, depositions, hearings, trials, and claims review meetings as required. Case Analysis and Recommendations: Prepare in-depth case analyses and make settlement recommendations to senior management and the Claims Review Committee. Claims Data Management: Enter claims data in Origami Risk and maintain accurate records. Professional Development: Stay updated on liability laws and practices in assigned states and participate in professional organizations. Qualifications and Education To be considered for this role, you should possess: A BS/BA degree in Business, Healthcare, Risk Management, or equivalent legal/insurance work experience. At least three years of experience in medical professional liability claim management or equivalent. Intermediate negotiation skills and knowledge of insurance coverage, concepts, and claim resolution procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and personal computers. Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Preferred candidates will have a strong background in claim management, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting. Skills and Competencies The ideal candidate will possess: Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex claims data and make informed decisions. Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication with various stakeholders, including attorneys, physicians, and insurance carriers. Organizational and Time Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple claims and prioritize tasks efficiently. Technical Skills: Proficiency in claims management software, such as Origami Risk, and Microsoft Office programs.
