Legal Support Technician
California Department of Justice is seeking a Legal Support Technician to join their legal support team. The role involves supporting legal staff with various administrative tasks, including document preparation, processing checks, and maintaining transaction logs. Responsibilities Answer telephones, process and coordinate Revolving Fund checks, collection advices, payroll and travel claim checks, process incoming faxes, Transit Pass purchasing in accordance with Accounting and State Administrative Manual procedures; maintain transaction logs, reconcile cash balances, conduct audits and prepare management reports as required; handle maintenance requests; photocopying and assembling large voluminous documents, bate stamping, indexing and closing case files by preparing labels and slips for delivery to the Docketing Unit May occasionally be called upon to answer telephones for the Executive Office; Using various computer software to proficiently type, edit, store, retrieve, print, process and fax documents and correspondence using modern office methods and procedures as required; independently and with initiative complete correspondence and other non-legal documents pertaining to court proceedings which are often of a confidential nature, including providing support to legal teams consisting of attorneys, paralegals and secretarial staff; assist legal secretaries in preparing documents in accordance to Prolaw for court filing by preparing exhibit tabs, Bates numbering, and indexing of complex cases, photocopying and faxing documents, including electronic; and assist with preparing envelopes, labels, and messenger service slips for service of documents Skills Utilizing various modern office equipment Answer telephones Process and coordinate Revolving Fund checks Process incoming faxes Maintain transaction logs Reconcile cash balances Conduct audits and prepare management reports as required Handle maintenance requests Photocopying and assembling large voluminous documents Bate stamping, indexing and closing case files by preparing labels and slips for delivery to the Docketing Unit Using various computer software to proficiently type, edit, store, retrieve, print, process and fax documents and correspondence Independently and with initiative complete correspondence and other non-legal documents pertaining to court proceedings Provide support to legal teams consisting of attorneys, paralegals and secretarial staff Assist legal secretaries in preparing documents in accordance to Prolaw for court filing Prepare exhibit tabs, Bates numbering, and indexing of complex cases Assist with preparing envelopes, labels, and messenger service slips for service of documents Benefits Work-life balance 11 paid holidays Flexible paid leave options Consistent wage increases Pension retirement Job stability Health/Dental/Vision Insurance Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) and more!
