Remote Full-time
We are searching for US case laws concerning a situation where an entire phase of a criminal trial (voir dire, suppression hearing, prosecution case, defense case, opening and closing statement, sentencing etc.) was closed to the public without the knowledge of the trial Judge. Please see two sample case laws below, and we are looking for more case laws like these two. 1) United States v. Jose Negron-Sostre, 790 F.3d 295 , Ist Cir. 2015 - (entire voir dire closed to public due to the court’s long standing practice, unknown to the trial judge - vacated) 2) Walton v. Briley, 361 F 3d 431, 7th circuit 2004 - (prosecution's entire case was presented in a prison after hours without any order from the trial Judge- vacated) The case laws should cover all levels of federal and State courts in the United States.
