Job Summary The Department of Health Sciences in the School of Health & Human Sciences, Indiana University Indianapolis, invites applications for a 10-month faculty position beginning August 1, 2024. This is a one-year, annually renewable appointment. As a Lecturer in Health Sciences, you will have the opportunity to teach and mentor undergraduate students in both face-to-face and online courses within the health sciences curriculum. You will also participate in and assist with the IU Indianapolis BRIDGE week and First Year Experience. Key Responsibilities Teach 4 courses per semester (fall/spring) in the health sciences curriculum Contribute to student success through BRIDGE, first-year seminars, and introductory health sciences courses Cultivate best teaching practices through engagement and discussion with the scholarship of teaching and learning Mentor students and provide professional, university, and community service Participate in departmental, school, and campus service Requirements and Qualifications Essential Qualifications: Master's Degree in Health or Rehabilitation Sciences or complementary disciplines, including but not limited to wellness, gerontology, sociology, behavioral medicine, health education, or nursing Demonstrated potential for success in teaching Experience in college classroom teaching Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. or Terminal degree in Health Sciences or related field Experience teaching online and in-person classes Student advising experience Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need: Excellent interpersonal and teaching skills Strong analytical abilities Enthusiasm for both teaching and the scholarship of teaching and learning research (SoTL) A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of the institution's students and employees Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits As a Lecturer in Health Sciences, you will have opportunities for professional growth and development, including: Participating in the scholarship of teaching and learning research (SoTL) Engaging in ongoing education and training to stay current in your field Collaborating with colleagues to develop innovative educational programs Contributing to the development of departmental, school, and campus initiatives Work Environment and Company Culture Indiana University is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive work environment.
