Lead BI Developer (Remote Opportunity)

About the position The Lead BI Developer will be a key member of the corporate IT team at AFL, responsible for supporting data and reporting requirements across the company's Key Business Units. This remote position involves designing, developing, implementing, enhancing, and maintaining software applications while collaborating closely with business leaders and analysts. The role emphasizes data analysis and enterprise reporting, with a strong focus on Agile methodologies in all development activities. Responsibilities • Leads projects to design and develop data delivery solutions using Power BI • Works with internal and external customers and suppliers to understand business requirements behind computing initiatives • Familiar with ETL and data integration solutions • Implements design patterns and industry best practices to develop secure, robust integration applications • Provides inputs on data transfer techniques into high-level solution architecture • Provides input for capacity planning and sizing of various ETL and ESB components • Actively collaborates with developers and other project resources • Demonstrates sound software development practices, following the System Development Life Cycle methodology • Questions existing processes and procedures and offers suggestions for continuous improvement • Communicates technical ideas and concepts in non-technical language to the business • Leads other team members of the development team on projects and tasks • Adheres to and promotes the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL. Requirements • Minimum of Associate's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Science, or Business Administration • Development experience in application development involving data transfers • Good understanding of ETL processes and best practices • Sound knowledge of SOAP, REST, JMS architecture concepts and PUB/SUB pattern • Strong knowledge of web services security • Good knowledge of Java SE, Java EE, XML, XML Schema, XSD, XSLT/XPath, and JSON technologies • Experience documenting and communicating integration designs aligned to business requirements • Advanced experience designing complex queries and working with standard object/relational databases such as Oracle, MS SQL, and PostGres • Experience tuning database and application queries • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Experience in the manufacturing industry preferred • Basic Linux experience - application administration Nice-to-haves • Experience in the manufacturing industry preferred Benefits • Flexible time off policy • 401K Company match (up to 4% - dollar for dollar) • Professional development, training, and tuition reimbursement programs • Excellent medical, dental, vision, and life insurance policy options • Opportunities for career advancement with an industry leading company Apply tot his job
