Investment Analyst, Public Investments (36 month term)
The California Endowment is a private health foundation focused on expanding access to quality health care for underserved communities. They are seeking an Investment Analyst, Public Investments, to provide analytical support for various asset classes and assist in managing the Endowment's investment portfolio. Responsibilities Provide general analytical support for existing and/or prospective investments, including assisting with manager meetings, due diligence, and preparation of investment memos Assist with the monitoring of existing investment managers by actively participating in manager meetings, gathering data on managers, and preparing analytical reviews of managers Conduct asset class and portfolio level qualitative and quantitative analysis, including gathering exposure information Prepare topical research reports and conduct ad hoc research as required Assist with operational aspects, including acting as a liaison between managers, Endowment Investment Operations, and Endowment Finance Cultivate relationships with institutional peers and managers to stay informed of market trends Develop investment skills and contribute to knowledge sharing amongst the Investment Team Participate in TCE initiatives, including training in alignment with Trust Based Philanthropy (TBP) and in support of TCE’s mission of Advancing Racial Equity (ARE) Skills Undergraduate degree with 0-3 years' experience at an endowment, foundation, family office, investment firm, or investment consultant Passion for investing with a curiosity to understand financial markets Strong analytical, quantitative, and communication skills Financial modeling skills and general knowledge of portfolio theory and capital markets Self-starter with ability to take initiative and collaborate with colleagues Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Commitment to the Endowment's mission and high level of professionalism Accuracy: Identifies and corrects mistakes; demonstrates strong attention to detail Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve problems with sound judgment Adaptability: Self-starter who effectively and positively embraces and manages change Relationship Management: Ability to establish strong rapport across all levels and manage enterprise-level relationships Process Management: Driven by results but focused on improving processes and efficiency Team Orientation: Comfortable taking direction and receptive to feedback Communication: Demonstrates clear, thoughtful, and thorough verbal and written skills; professional and diplomatic demeanor Progress towards CFA and/or CAIA is a plus Benefits Shared medical and dental premiums for employees and eligible dependents 100% employer-paid benefits: vision, life and AD&D, STD, LTD and employee assistance program Health Care and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts Reimbursement towards gym fees and/or wellness program and mental health care 9-80 schedule with synchronized off days Hybrid work schedule available for most positions 11 paid holidays + paid winter holiday closure Generous paid time off (PTO) 401k plan with generous employer match and contributions Matching gifts program Paid parking or public transportation subsidy Professional development and training opportunities Tuition Reimbursement Program Monthly BYOD stipend Company Overview California Endowment is a not-for-profit foundation with $3.4 billion assets under management.
