About the position American National is seeking a full-time Manager through Director level team member for the Investment Accounting & Reporting department. This role involves overseeing the accounting and reporting of the company's investments in compliance with U.S. Statutory and GAAP standards. The successful candidate will maintain internal controls, support audits, and provide strategic insights to enhance investment strategies and ensure regulatory compliance. Responsibilities • Lead a team of investment accounting professionals • Oversee accounting oversight and reporting for the company's invested assets • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting close and reporting for investment accounting • Produce investment reporting schedules and disclosures for STAT and GAAP statements • Ensure timely and accurate reconciliations of investment accounts • Coordinate relationships with internal asset managers and third-party accounting service providers • Collaborate with third-party administrators to resolve discrepancies • Serve as the SOX control owner for investment accounting processes • Support internal controls and audit teams during test work • Provide strategic recommendations for investment accounting activities • Evaluate employee performance through performance management practices Requirements • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field • Professional insurance industry experience in investment accounting, financial reporting, or auditing • Experience in a formal leadership role • Knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting for insurance company portfolios (Preferred) • CPA, CFA, and/or MBA (Preferred) • Proficiency in Excel • Willingness to travel (less than 10%) • Availability to work outside normal business hours during peak periods Nice-to-haves • Knowledge of statutory and GAAP accounting for fixed income investments, mortgage loans, and real estate • Experience with SAP financial systems and investment software (e.g., PAM, Aladdin, Clearwater, CAMRA) • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively • Strong collaboration skills to challenge processes and drive efficiencies Benefits • Medical insurance • Dental insurance • Vision insurance • Basic life insurance • 401k plan • Paid time off • Paid holidays Apply tot his job
