Maricopa County is seeking a Human Resources Specialist to join their Judicial Branch Human Resources Employment Services Department. The role involves managing a variety of employment processing actions, onboarding new hires, and providing customer service regarding HR-related inquiries. Responsibilities Responsible for a high-volume caseload of a variety of employment processing actions in a complex organizational environment Contacts new hires, coordinates their paperwork for onboarding and conducts their onboarding appointment ensuring a welcoming and professional onboarding experience Track completion of onboarding tasks by new hires, managers, and internal stakeholders Maintain and update onboarding checklists and workflows Answers frequently asked questions from employees relative to such things as standard policies, benefits, and retirement and refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or departments Performs employment eligibility (E-Verify) verifications on newly hired employees Prepares and processes paperwork, including Personnel Action Forms, on all personnel actions related to hiring, promotions, transfers, salary adjustments, retirements, and terminations Updates the internal HRIS database daily with personnel changes Maintains hard-copy personnel files and ensures compliance with records retention and release of information guidelines Prepares routine, sensitive correspondence and documents related to areas of responsibility Identifies opportunities to enhance onboarding efficiency and experience Provides customer service and responds to questions via email, telephone, and in-person from employees, managers, and external customers regarding employment procedures and opportunities, health and non-health benefits, compensation, and other human resources-related services Skills Associates degree One (1) year of specialized experience in human resources or administrative support within a large, complex organization that includes onboarding, HR systems and workflows, and streamlining administrative functions Three (3) years of specialized experience in human resources or administrative support within a large, complex organization that includes onboarding, HR systems and workflows, and streamlining administrative functions may be considered in substitution for the minimum qualifications Knowledge of the principles and processes for providing effective customer service to internal and external customers Knowledge of the basic principles and processes administered by Human Resources Skill in typing and performing data entry with speed and accuracy Skill in communicating effectively both verbally and in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience in a way that conveys information efficiently Skill in prioritizing assignments, multitasking, and managing one's time effectively while dealing with numerous interruptions Skill in developing and maintaining positive and productive working relationships with coworkers, employees, and managers Skill in utilizing Microsoft Office suite and other database systems to complete required paperwork, reports, email correspondence, utilize the internet, and perform other related administrative tasks Ability to function effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment Ability to listen effectively, which includes assessing others' understanding of communications and modifying communication styles to fit the audience or situation Ability to work as a member of a team with moderate supervision Ability to critically think about and analyze problems to reach logical conclusions and execute effective solutions Ability to adjust to changing circumstances, remaining flexible when scheduling conflict occurs, taking on other roles when short-staffed, and adapting or changing priorities as the situation requires Ability to learn, interpret, apply, and explain a vast number of complex organizational policies and procedures Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information and data Experience working in the Judicial Branch At least one (1) year of experience working in a Human Resources environment Benefits Generous paid time off Paid sick leave 10 paid holidays Affordable medical, dental, and vision insurance Coverage by one of several State-sponsored retirement pension plans Employee assistance program Wellness incentives Option of life insurance Disability A group legal plan Pet insurance Loan forgiveness under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program Company Overview Maricopa County is a regulatory agency whose goal is to ensure federal clean air standards are achieved and maintained.
