Role Description This role offers a unique opportunity to shape how complex clinical and policy decisions are communicated to patients clearly, accurately, and compassionately. As a key contributor to the clinical content team, you will craft and refine patient-facing adverse determination communications, ensuring they meet rigorous regulatory requirements while remaining understandable and respectful to diverse audiences. Your work will directly influence the patient experience at critical moments, helping individuals better understand their coverage, care options, and next steps. You’ll collaborate closely with clinicians, policy experts, and compliance partners to translate complex medical and regulatory information into clear, consistent, compliant, and human-centered language. Beyond writing and editing, you’ll help establish templates, style guides, and best practices that scale across products and programs, and support efforts to structure and automate clinical knowledge. What you’ll do: • Draft and refine adverse determination reasons and related communications in plain language. • Collaborate with clinicians, policy writers, and compliance teams to ensure accuracy and consistency. • Translate complex medical and policy content into clear, patient-centered language. • Ensure all communications comply with regulatory requirements (CMS, NCQA, URAC, and state mandates) and are implemented within project deadlines. • Maintain consistency in tone, readability, and user experience across documents. • Support the development of templates, style guides, and best practices for patient‑facing content. • Partner with other members across the organization (informatics, clinical content, designers, etc.) to capture, structure, and automate clinical knowledge. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Public Health, Nursing, or related field (background in nursing or clinical practice strongly preferred) • 5+ years of experience in medical writing, patient communications, or health literacy • Experience with clinical policy, utilization management, or payer environment • Knowledge of health literacy principles and plain language standards • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail • Ability to balance regulatory compliance with patient‑friendly readability • Experience collaborating with clinicians, policy teams, and compliance/legal stakeholders Benefits • Fully remote opportunity with about 5% travel • Medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, and Employee Assistance Program • 401K retirement plan with company match; flexible spending and health savings account • ️ Up to 184 hours (23 days) of PTO per year + company holidays • Up to 14 weeks of paid parental leave • Pet insurance • The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000 annually; as part of a total benefits package which includes health insurance, 401k and bonus.
