Grant Writer (Remote, Part-Time) Organization: DNA Global Schedule: 10–20 hours/week | Flexible | Remote Compensation: Commensurate with experience About Us Do you want to help build a more just, equitable world? About the Role We are seeking a results-oriented, independent, innovative, critical thinker, and experienced grant writer with demonstrated experience writing, submitting and overseeing competitive grant proposals for nonprofit and public sector programs. Experience successfully submitting research and evaluation proposals to local, state or federal grants/RFPs is preferred. You must be highly organized, proactive, and reliable. This role requires a self-directed leader who can work independently, meet clear deadlines with precision, and collaborate closely with a team of multidisciplinary researchers. Some experience in public health or criminal justice research and evaluation will be helpful. Ideal candidates (or consultants) work well in a fast-paced start-up environment, are adaptable and flexible, and are highly motivated to support us. This leadership role involves managing the full lifecycle of proposal development — from actively searching for funding opportunities to developing and submitting polished, high-quality proposals on time (minimum 3 proposals/month) — leveraging existing grant-tracking systems, past proposals, and templates. You work remotely with flexible as long as expectations and deliverables are met with clear communication and shared understanding. Submit a minimum of 3 proposals per month, approx. 10-15 hours/week. Compensation (approx. $1,500-$2,000/month) based on hours and performance (results-oriented). What You Do • Identify, shortlist and track funding opportunities regularly. • Lead end-to-end proposal development, including timelines, coordination, compliance, and submission management. • Draft, edit and finalize compelling, equity-centered narratives for research, evaluation, and technical assistance projects including budgets and attachments. Coordinate inputs from researchers. • Ensure all proposals meet funder requirements, quality standards, and deadlines. • Maintain and strengthen DNA’s grants pipeline, proposal library, and core boilerplate materials. • Share funding insights with leadership and help build our grants development function. Standardize grants submissions process and structure for DNA, including grants.gov. What We're Looking For • Exceptional multidisciplinary grant writer with 5+ years of experience in public /nonprofit sector (data/outcome focused). • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills. • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines. • Team player who is flexible and collaborative, able to work with diverse multi-functional team members. • Strong leadership critical thinking skills, self-driven, and highly reliable. • Sufficient subject matter expertise in public sector (including county government in public health, criminal justice, social service, community-based organizations/ nonprofits). • * Strong work ethic, organized, responsible, and serious about impact. • Strong commitment to advancing equity, data, and systems change. • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and RFP tools (BidPrime, OpenGov, Grants.gov). Bonus Points For • Experience with government or foundation grants. • Familiarity with public health, justice reform, Education or nonprofit community-based projects. • Sufficient knowledge of data, outcomes and program evaluation. • Knowledge of grants.gov and federal grants (US DOJ, DOE, USDHHS).
