GIS Technician (Portland, OR, US)

GIS Technician Responsibilities: • This position will be responsible for completing mapping and geospatial analysis tasks which support the screening, planning, development, permitting and construction of renewable energy projects, including: • Assisting with renewable energy site selection and characterization studies which screen for project risks, fatal flaws, and overall viability. • Researching, compiling, analyzing, and integrating GIS data into web maps and enterprise geodatabases. • Maintaining proprietary datasets related to North American energy markets • Performing and automating multi-criteria spatial analysis. • Providing support for permitting at the federal, state, and local level; including creating maps & figures for local stakeholder engagement • Providing support for the optimization of project layouts and setback requirements. • Maintain robust data integrity standards and ensure that all resulting maps/analysis are compliant with department, project, company and industry requirements and standards. • Support GIS training for other staff and troubleshooting problems associated with existing GIS applications, tools and data. • Create, maintain, and provide user support for ArcGIS Online & ArcGIS Portal feature services, web maps and web apps. • Assist in the maintenance and continued development of ArcGIS Enterprise & Portal to support essential workflows. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Environmental Science, or Geospatial Science • 2+ years of related professional experience. Competencies: • Knowledge of GIS concepts (cartographic standards, spatial analysis, relational databases, data validation and integration, coordinate systems, etc.). • Thorough knowledge of the ESRI ArcGIS platform, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise/Portal and ArcGIS Online. • Comfortable with Python, JSON, SQL & Arcade programming languages for geospatial analysis, automation & web GIS. • Familiar with Survey123, Field Maps, and other mobile GIS applications. • Familiar with converting data from KML/KMZ or CAD formats into ArcGIS data formats. • General knowledge and interest in renewable energy and environmental assessment regulatory frameworks and renewable energy project development, design, and construction. • Excellent communication skills, oral and written in English, and interpersonal interaction. • Able to complete responsibilities in a timely, professional, and quality manner What We Offer: We offer an exciting position with great development opportunities in an inspiring environment at the world's number one wind turbine producer.
