Geotechnical Instrumentation Engineer
Instratus Monitoring Ltd. is a small engineering firm specializing in automated construction instrumentation and monitoring services. The Geotechnical Instrumentation Engineer will plan, assemble, integrate, configure, install, and commission instrumentation and data acquisition systems for construction projects while ensuring project requirements are met through communication with clients and contractors. Responsibilities Installing equipment onsite using planned approaches or field-fitting when necessary Borehole drilling, soil logging, and sensor installation and baselining Commissioning of automated data acquisition systems for monitoring programs including integrating sensors with dataloggers and building out connectivity networks Maintaining monitoring programs by troubleshooting, diagnosing and solving issues, tracking and managing power for remote systems, and completing service and calibration work Configuring and managing our digital platform for monitoring data presentation and reporting Completing condition surveys of sensitive structures before and after construction, including photo processing and reporting Skills Must have a valid Canadian drivers license and vehicle Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field (Civil, geology, geophysics, etc.) 1+ years experience Experience related to the installation and maintenance of geotechnical and structural instruments including piezometers, inclinometers, vibration monitors, total stations is a strong asset Must demonstrate versatility and the ability to work and solve problems independently Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks including standing for long periods, traversing uneven ground, and lifting and moving heavy materials Must be able to manage their time effectively while working on a wide variety of tasks and priorities Experience with soil investigations including permitting, locates, and various types of drilling is preferred Registration or ability to register as an EIT or P.Eng. with EGBC is preferred Electrical or mechanical skills are an asset Benefits Overtime pay Mileage reimbursement Holiday, live-out, and performance-based bonuses Company Overview Instratus Monitoring provides geotechnical and structural construction instrumentation and monitoring services.
