Job Overview In this critical role, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of water resources related projects, applying your strong and diverse skillset to drive success. As a Water Resources Engineer and Hydrologist at LWS, you will be responsible for conducting water availability analyses, surface water modeling, groundwater modeling, water quality analyses, contaminant transport analyses, and augmentation plan engineering, among other tasks. Key Responsibilities Conduct water availability analyses to identify opportunities and challenges for our clients Develop and apply surface water and groundwater models to simulate and predict water flow and quality Perform water quality analyses to assess the impact of human activities on water resources Design and implement augmentation plans to ensure sustainable water use Prepare and submit reports, including SWSPs and consumptive use analyses, to regulatory agencies and clients Collaborate with our team to manage well drilling projects, including permitting, drilling observation, and well design Provide expert testimony in Colorado Water Court, as required Manage projects and teams to ensure timely and within-budget delivery of services Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong foundation in water resources engineering and hydrology, as well as excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills. The following qualifications are essential: Bachelor's degree in Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, or a related field At least 2 years of experience in water resources engineering, with a focus on surface and groundwater modeling, water quality analysis, and project management Professional licensing (Colorado PE) is highly desirable, with PG being helpful as well Experience with Colorado Water Court expert testimony is an asset Strong understanding of water resources principles, including hydrology, hydraulics, and water quality Proficiency in water resources modeling software, such as MODFLOW, HEC-RAS, and SWMM Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare and present technical reports and presentations Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and teams Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Master's degree in Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology, or a related field More than 5 years of experience in water resources engineering, with a focus on surface and groundwater modeling, water quality analysis, and project management Experience with well drilling management, including permitting, drilling observation, and well design Knowledge of Colorado water law and regulations Experience with GIS and spatial analysis software, such as ArcGIS and QGIS Programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need to possess a range of skills and competencies, including: Technical skills: Strong understanding of water resources principles, including hydrology, hydraulics, and water quality Analytical skills: Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret large datasets, and to develop and apply models to simulate and predict water flow and quality Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare and present technical reports and presentations Project management skills: Ability to manage multiple projects and teams, and to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines Collaboration and teamwork: Ability to work effectively with our team, as well as with clients and stakeholders Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At LWS, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
