Job Summary and Responsibilities In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on complex and challenging projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes. Your responsibilities will include: Defining, designing, and developing data access layers for SQL and NoSQL data stores Leading a large team of experts to deliver cross-group initiatives Conducting root cause analysis of complex issues involving multiple teams, applications, networks, hardware, and software that impact scalability and performance Collaborating with the open-source community and contributing to open-source software Working with public cloud database service providers to deliver efficient and effective database solutions for business-critical applications Owning and resolving complex issues, providing robust solutions and technical expertise Being a change agent and technical leader, driving engineering and operational excellence, processes, and best practices Essential Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you will need: Years of hands-on experience in software development in backend systems and services, including database access (SQL and NoSQL) in a distributed environment Years of hands-on experience as a technical lead or architect Deep understanding of cloud-native technologies, including distributed systems and databases Broad and deep hands-on experience and expertise in Java-based technologies Deep understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL), including architecture, design, and limitations Solid advocate of engineering and operational excellence, processes, and best practices Preferred Qualifications and Skills While not required, the following qualifications and skills are preferred: Data science, machine learning, optimization models, PhD in AI, computer science, information technology, operations research, statistics, applied mathematics, econometrics Successful completion of one or more certifications in Python, Spark, Scala, or R Experience using open-source frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, LightGBM) Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Walmart, we are committed to the growth and development of our associates.
