Job Overview As a Virtual Middle School Math Tutor at Littera Education, you will play a vital role in guiding students through upper elementary and early middle school math content. Your expertise and patience will help students build a strong foundation in mathematics, fostering a love for learning and confidence in their abilities. This is a remote, contract position that offers flexibility and autonomy, allowing you to choose your own schedule and work at your own pace. Key Responsibilities Provide virtual math tutoring to students in grades 6, 7, and 8, using our proprietary curriculum and online platform Build strong relationships with students, establishing trust and rapport to facilitate effective learning Guide students through math concepts, using clear and concise communication, and adapting your teaching style to meet individual needs Set your own availability and schedule, with a minimum commitment of 8-9am ET, Tuesday to Friday Complete curriculum overviews and familiarize yourself with our content and platform Collaborate with our team to ensure seamless delivery of tutoring services, including communicating with students, parents, and colleagues as needed Requirements and Qualifications To be considered for this role, you should possess the following essential qualifications: Relevant experience working with school-age learners, either as a teacher, tutor, or mentor A bachelor's degree is preferred, but college students with 1+ years of relevant experience are also welcome to apply Strong math skills, with a focus on upper elementary and early middle school math content Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students Comfort and proficiency with online virtual tools and technology, including desktop or laptop, Chrome browser, headset, video camera, and reliable internet connection Residence in the continental United States, Alaska, or Hawaii Preferred Qualifications Experience with virtual tutoring or online teaching Familiarity with our proprietary curriculum and platform Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to adjust to changing circumstances and priorities Skills and Competencies To succeed as a Virtual Middle School Math Tutor at Littera Education, you should possess the following skills and competencies: Strong math knowledge and pedagogy, with the ability to break down complex concepts into simple, understandable language Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues Patience, empathy, and understanding, with a willingness to support students who may be struggling or frustrated Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Technical skills, including proficiency with online virtual tools and technology, and the ability to troubleshoot common technical issues Career Growth and Learning Benefits At Littera Education, we are committed to supporting the growth and development of our tutors, providing opportunities for professional development, training, and advancement.
