Position Overview As a Verbatim Court Reporter Transcriptionist with E-Typist, Inc., you'll have the opportunity to showcase your transcription skills and expertise while working on a variety of court proceedings, trials, and depositions. You'll be responsible for transcribing audio recordings with precision, accuracy, and attention to detail, maintaining a strict verbatim format. Key Responsibilities Audio Transcription: Transcribe court proceedings, trials, and depositions from audio recordings with precision, accurately identifying speakers and capturing all spoken content in verbatim format. Quality Assurance: Apply quality assurance measures to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with court formatting rules, maintaining high transcription standards. Colloquy Knowledge: Demonstrate understanding of legal terminologies, colloquy, and court-specific language, formatting Q&A and colloquy sections correctly. Time Management: Manage 1-3 day turnaround times, allowing a minimum of 1 day per 1 hour of assigned audio, meeting deadlines consistently while maintaining accuracy. Qualifications and Requirements Essential Qualifications Verbatim Transcription Experience: Proven experience in transcribing court proceedings, trials, and depositions with adherence to court formatting rules. AAERT Certification: AAERT certified applicants will receive premier consideration for the position. Q&A and Colloquy Knowledge: Ability to distinguish and format Q&A and colloquy format correctly. Software Proficiency: Competence in using transcription software, including For the Record and Express Scribe, and Microsoft Office. Skills Assessment: Willingness to undergo a skills assessment test to evaluate transcription abilities. Availability: Able to transcribe a minimum of 1.5-2 hours of audio per day. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Large Jury Trials: Experience transcribing large jury trials is a plus. Transcription Software Expertise: Proficiency in using multiple transcription software platforms. Equipment Requirements Operating System: Windows 10 or 11. Software: Office 365, For the Record, and Express Scribe. Internet Connection: Strong and reliable internet connection for seamless communication. Transcription Pedal: A transcription foot pedal for hands-free control of audio playback during transcription. Transcription Headphones: High-quality transcription headphones for clear and accurate listening to audio recordings.
