About the Opportunity We're seeking a passionate and experienced Substitute Teacher to join our team in Newark, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to work on your own schedule, gaining hands-on teaching experience while being supported every step of the way. Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in various educational settings, including elementary, middle, and high schools. Develop and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and learning. Work closely with school staff to ensure a smooth and effective teaching experience. Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your designated Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback, develop your skills, and address any concerns. Engage in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your teaching practices and stay up-to-date on best practices in education. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you'll need: An Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits. Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor. A NJ Substitute Credential. A background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this). Full COVID-19 vaccination. A passion for education and putting students first. An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly valued: Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role. Specialized training or certifications in areas such as special education, English language learning, or STEM education.
