About the Role: Substitute Teacher We're seeking an experienced and passionate Substitute Teacher to join our community of educators in Newark, NJ. Key Responsibilities: Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in various educational settings, including elementary, middle, and high schools. Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, ensuring continuity and consistency in the classroom. Build positive relationships with students, teachers, and school staff, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment. Adapt to diverse classroom settings and needs, demonstrating flexibility and a growth mindset. Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your designated Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback, develop your skills, and address any concerns. Engage in ongoing professional development through free online training and resources, enhancing your teaching practices and staying up-to-date on best practices. Essential Qualifications: Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits. Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor. NJ Substitute Credential. Background check and TB risk assessment (Scoot Education will cover the cost). Full COVID-19 vaccination. A passion for education and putting students first. An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role. Specialized training or certifications in areas such as Special Education, English as a Second Language (ESL), or STEM education. Experience working with diverse student populations and adapting to various classroom settings. Skills and Competencies: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility and adaptability in response to changing circumstances. Strong organizational and time management skills.
