Job Overview We're seeking an accomplished Staff Engineer to lead the technical procedure and execution of our global payment, funding, and extortion platform across all our retail brands and geographies. As a Staff Engineer, you will play a critical role in driving our fintech and reliability environment, ensuring the development of a top-notch, global platform that provides superb transactional insights for our customers and suppliers while managing any transaction risk and the total cost of payment. This is a remote work-from-home opportunity with quarterly travel to our Boston headquarters, offering the perfect blend of flexibility and collaboration. Key Responsibilities Act as the technical lead in the payment space, designing and building a platform that interfaces with various systems inside and outside Wayfair and partner globally Assume a critical role in developing and driving a long-term technology strategy for Wayfair's Fintech and Reliability environment Architect and review code to implement high-quality, scalable, future-proof services that will have compelling system limits and will support long-term vision and strategy Lead technical discussions across the entire platform and help reach robust documented resolutions Drive high-impact engineering solutions and active development, including design, implementation, and delivery following good design and coding practices Fanatically focus on production readiness for the team, including testing, monitoring, deployment, documentation, and proactive troubleshooting Identify risks and gaps in technical approaches and propose solutions to meet the department's technical vision Influence and contribute to the division's strategy and roadmap Support the growth of other engineers by mentoring, pairing, and creating other opportunities for training Be remotely recognized as a collaborative and credible subject matter expert for the broader team's core area Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you should have: 4+ years of experience in engineering, with a preference for candidates with a mix of start-up and large company experience Ideal experience in the payments engineering domain, particularly experience with larger-scale integrations (credit cards, financing, BNPL, apps) E-commerce or customer-facing technology experience on a high-traffic website is a significant plus Proven experience driving software changes within high-growth environments at scale Experience in architecting and building large-scale, cloud-based technology Excellent communication skills with demonstrated experience leading teams forward and ability to influence results Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience with cloud-native technologies (GCP, AWS, Azure) at scale Distributed systems experience Data-driven technologies in the cloud Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Wayfair, we're committed to the growth and development of our employees.
