About the Role We are seeking a passionate and experienced Special Education Instructional Assistant to join our team at Eagle Rock Elementary. Key Responsibilities Provide individualized and small-group instruction to students with special needs under the guidance of a classroom teacher. Assist in developing and implementing personalized learning plans tailored to each student's unique needs and goals. Support students with emotional, physical, behavioral, or mental disabilities, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment, ensuring the health and well-being of all students. Assist with student personal hygiene and grooming needs, including toileting, eating, and changing diapers and clothes as required. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to ensure a cohesive and effective educational program. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in special education and positive behavior supports. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A high school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience working with students with special needs, preferably in a special education setting. Knowledge of positive behavior supports and strategies to support students with diverse needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families. A passion for supporting students with special needs and a commitment to their academic, social, and emotional growth. The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: A degree in special education, education, or a related field. Bilingual or multilingual skills, particularly in Spanish. Experience with assistive technology and adaptive equipment. Training or certification in crisis intervention, first aid, or CPR.
