As a Software Engineering Manager, Security - iCloud, you will be part of a talented team that designs, develops, and deploys software operating at scale. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining and enhancing the performance and security of our systems, which interface directly with low-level Linux kernel interfaces, leveraging asynchronous I/O and threads to distribute workload efficiently. Key Responsibilities Lead, manage, and grow a high-performing team of software engineers, focusing on recruitment, onboarding, assessment, and career development. Drive technical and strategic decisions that impact the team's work, ensuring alignment with Apple's overall goals and objectives. Oversee the development, maintenance, and optimization of secure, high-performance systems software for iCloud services. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements, ensuring timely and successful delivery. Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and excellence within the team, promoting best practices and staying abreast of industry trends. Ensure the team's work meets the highest standards of security, performance, and quality, leveraging expertise in software security primitives, certificates, and identity management. Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you should possess: A minimum of 10+ years of proven experience in software engineering and leadership, with a strong background in systems programming. A solid understanding of multiple programming languages, including Java, Swift, Rust, Go, and/or C/C++. In-depth knowledge of networking concepts, distributed systems design principles, and software security best practices. Expertise in Unix-type operating systems and concepts, with hands-on experience in systems programming. Excellent communication and team leadership skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications While not mandatory, the following qualifications can significantly enhance your candidacy: Effective project management skills, with experience in managing complex projects from conception to delivery. A BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience, demonstrating a strong foundation in computer science principles. The base pay range for this role is between $190,700 and $329,600, depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
