About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our Customer Testing Analytics team. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be an experimenter, utilizing arenaflex's data to design and measure large-scale customer-level trials and in-market tests to determine the business impact from our most critical initiatives. In this broad and dynamic role, you will develop and apply statistical modeling tools, techniques, and datasets to identify causal drivers of business impact. Your analysis will directly inform wider rollout strategies for our customer and retail digital programs. Key Responsibilities Influence and support our largest strategic initiatives by providing guidance and expertise to help business partners in how to effectively measure and validate our most critical business hypotheses. Collaborate to develop cross-functional learning plans by working with technology, operations, marketing, and external vendors to create comprehensive learning plans, aligning program objectives to specific and quantifiable partner, customer, and business insights. Deliver complex analytical projects by developing fit-for-purpose test versus control models and other descriptive and inferential analysis to determine the causal effect on sales, transactions, margin, or loyalty from specific interventions and inform go/no-go decisions. Lead data preparation of complex datasets and ensure accurate analysis setup by extracting, transforming, and blending a wide variety of datasets, such as customer, transactional, and clickstream datasets, and collaborating across functional boundaries to navigate the intricacies of our technology stack and integrations with external vendors. Create compelling stories supported by data by working under consultative or self-directed guidance to produce significant insights and narratives to support testing recommendations, and presenting these stories both verbally and visually to varying levels of business partners, up to and including senior management. Lead and evangelize the experimental methodology by being a role model for trial design and measurement, developing and disseminating best practices across business partners. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree with a quantitative emphasis, such as Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Economics, Marketing Research, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in data analysis or a related field, with a strong background in statistical modeling and data visualization. Strong data querying skills (SQL) and advanced proficiency in R or Python. Experience handling data at scale via Spark (PySpark, SparkR, Scala, or Java) or other sources to generate business insights. Familiarity with graphical analysis and data visualization tools, such as ggplot2, seaborn, matplotlib, or Tableau. Solid understanding of A/B testing and inferential statistics, including test size determination/power analysis, hypothesis testing, regression, and more. Some experience with event tracking for web and mobile applications, using tools like Google Analytics, mParticle, and similar platforms to collect and analyze clickstream data accurately. Strong collaboration impulses, with a desire and ability to work with partners to achieve the best outcome for the business. Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with colleagues, partners, and leaders from diverse backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience with industry-standard A/B testing tools and technologies, such as Google Optimize, Optimizely, Apptimize, or Adobe/Mastercard Test and Learn software. Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and techniques, with experience in implementing and deploying models in a production environment. Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure, and experience with data engineering tools, such as Apache Beam or Apache Spark. Strong understanding of data governance and data quality principles, with experience in implementing and maintaining data validation and data cleansing processes.
