About the Role: Senior Data Engineer We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our team, where you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing cloud-based data solutions and analytics platforms. As a key member of our Income and Planning Innovation group, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive business growth, improve operational efficiency, and enhance customer experiences through data-driven insights. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with source data application teams and product owners to design, implement, and support analytics solutions that provide actionable insights for informed decision-making Develop and execute data migration and data engineering solutions using Azure products and services, such as Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Event Hub, and Azure Databricks Perform various aspects of the development lifecycle, including design, cloud engineering, ingestion, preparation, data modeling, testing, CICD pipelines, performance tuning, and deployment Provide technical leadership and collaborate within a team environment, as well as work independently, to drive project deliverables and outcomes Implement batch and streaming data pipelines using cloud technologies, such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Stream Analytics Drive the development of coding standards, best practices, and security guidelines, and mentor others on technical and domain skills to create multi-functional teams Essential Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training Minimum of 4 years of experience in software development, with a focus on data engineering, cloud computing, and analytics Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, C++, or equivalent Experience with data platforms, such as Teradata, Cassandra, MongoDB, Oracle, SQL Server, ADLS, or Snowflake Familiarity with Azure cloud technologies, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Functions Knowledge of CI/CD tools, such as GitHub, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or Terraform Experience with BI analysis tool stacks, including Cognos, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Denodo, or Grafana Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or a related technical discipline Experience with cloud development and data lake experience (preferably Microsoft Azure), including Azure EventHub, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, ADX, ASA, Azure Databricks, Azure DevOps, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, and Power BI Airline industry experience or knowledge of aviation operations Skills and certifications in Azure Development Track, Azure Data Engineering, or equivalent Experience with data management and security tools, such as Informatica Axon and EDC, BigID, or equivalent Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At American Airlines, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
