About the Role We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate School Nurse - LPN - GIS to join our team at Glenwood Middle School. As a School Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality healthcare services to our students, promoting health and wellness, and supporting the educational process. You will work closely with our team of educators, support staff, and administrators to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of our students. Key Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to students, including assessing their health needs, developing care plans, and implementing interventions to promote health and wellness Conduct health screenings, vaccinations, and other health-related services as required Develop and implement health education programs to promote healthy habits and lifestyles among students Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and other support staff to identify and address the health-related needs of students Maintain accurate and confidential health records, including medical histories, treatment plans, and progress notes Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care and support Participate in school-wide initiatives and programs to promote health, wellness, and safety Stay up-to-date with best practices in school nursing, including current research, trends, and technologies Essential Qualifications Valid Illinois Professional Educator License, with applicable endorsement(s) Current LPN licensure in the state of Illinois Strong knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff from diverse backgrounds Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a school setting or with pediatric populations Knowledge of health education principles and practices Experience with electronic health records and other healthcare technologies Bilingual or multilingual skills Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a range of skills and competencies, including: Strong clinical skills : You will need to be able to assess, diagnose, and treat a range of health conditions, including acute and chronic illnesses, injuries, and mental health concerns Effective communication skills : You will need to be able to communicate clearly and effectively with students, parents, and staff, including those from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds Collaboration and teamwork : You will need to be able to work effectively with our team of educators, support staff, and administrators to create a positive and inclusive learning environment Cultural competence : You will need to be able to understand and respect the diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences of our students and their families Adaptability and flexibility : You will need to be able to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities, including unexpected health emergencies or crises Career Growth and Learning Benefits At arenaflex, we are committed to supporting the ongoing learning and professional development of our staff.
