Job Overview As a Remote Data Entry Operator at blithequark, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of our database by transferring data from paper documents to computer files or database systems. You will be responsible for entering data provided directly by customers, creating spreadsheets, verifying data, and updating existing information. You will report to a Data Manager or other senior member of the data team and will be expected to maintain the highest standards of data confidentiality and security. Key Responsibilities Transfer data from paper formats to computer files or database systems using keyboards, data recorders, or optical scanners, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. Enter data provided directly by customers in a timely and efficient manner, maintaining high levels of data quality and integrity. Create spreadsheets with a large number of figures without errors, using tools such as MS Office Excel. Verify data by comparing it with source documents, ensuring that all information is accurate and up-to-date. Update existing data, making changes as necessary to reflect new information or updates. Retrieve data from the database or electronic files as requested, providing support to colleagues and stakeholders as needed. Perform regular backups to ensure data preservation, protecting against data loss and ensuring business continuity. Sort and organize documentation after data entry, ensuring that all data is properly stored and easily accessible. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following essential qualifications: Demonstrated experience as a data entry clerk, with a proven track record of accuracy and attention to detail. Fast typing ability, with knowledge of touch typing systems preferred. Excellent knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet tools, including MS Office Word and Excel. Working knowledge of office equipment and computer hardware and peripheral devices. Basic knowledge of databases, with the ability to learn and adapt to new systems and technologies. Good command of English, both oral and written, with strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders. High school diploma or equivalent, with a strong foundation in mathematics and computer skills.
