Experienced Remote Data Analyst for Retail Merchandising Team – 6-Month Contract with Opportunity for Extension or Conversion

Introduction to the Company and Industry We are a global leader in retail pharmacy, dedicated to providing exceptional customer experiences and optimizing our business performance. Our Merchandise Planning Analytics team plays a critical role in supporting our merchandising team, comprising over 100 merchants and 40 planners, to drive the success of our Front End (non-Pharmacy) businesses. As a Remote Analyst, you will be an integral part of this team, working closely with stakeholders to deliver data-driven insights and analysis that inform business decisions. Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Remote Analyst to join our team on a 6-month contract basis, with the potential for extension or conversion to a permanent role. As a Remote Analyst, you will be responsible for managing reporting, analysis, and tool building for our merchandising team, with a focus on Own Brand (private label) products. You will work independently and collaboratively with stakeholders to optimize performance, drive business growth, and deliver exceptional results. Work Environment This is a 100% remote role, requiring you to work in the Central Standard Time (CST) zone. Your working hours will be 8am-5pm (with a 1-hour lunch break from 12pm-1pm), with a minimum of 30 hours per week to fulfill business needs. While flexibility is offered, you must be available to work core hours to ensure seamless collaboration with the team. Key Responsibilities Own Brand (private label) reporting, recapping, tracking, and analysis, including ad-hoc analysis based on business needs Item-level historical analysis and recapping Item-level future-looking forecast Scope will include thousands of Own Brand items (at item level) Utilization of Excel as the primary system/tool for analysis and reporting Development of complex Excel formulas and synthesis of large data sets into meaningful executive recaps Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will require: A Bachelor's degree and at least 3-5 years of experience in one or more of the following fields: analytics, data science, finance, financial analysis, assortment planning, retail, procurement/purchasing, merchandising Minimum 3 years of experience in data analytics or a related field, with a strong understanding of retail merchandising basics (i.e., category management) and merchandising organization structures and processes Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, partnered with storytelling finesse Ability to conduct complex quantitative analysis and build analytical models using Microsoft Excel Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to present insights via Microsoft PowerPoint Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments, meet tight deadlines, and develop effective working relationships with stakeholders Retail math background, with skills such as item-level forecasting based on demand patterns or sell-through/sales/profit goals, knowledge of sales by type and AUR impacts, and all inventory and sales metrics Intermediate/Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel (e.g., using SUM/SUMIFS, Subtotals, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, Macros, Pivot tables) Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are desirable: MBA preferred; Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and/or other quantitative analytical degree a plus Data science experience Retail experience SQL Coding, Microsoft Access, Macro building Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will require: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders Ability to work independently and adapt to changing work priorities Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits As a Remote Analyst with our company, you will have access to: Ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge Opportunities for career growth and advancement within the company A collaborative and supportive work environment that fosters innovation and creativity Exposure to a wide range of business areas, including merchandising, planning, finance, and more Work Environment and Company Culture Our company culture is built on a foundation of: Respect and inclusivity, with a commitment to diversity and equal opportunities Collaboration and teamwork, with a focus on achieving common goals Innovation and creativity, with a willingness to try new approaches and learn from failures Open communication and transparency, with regular feedback and coaching Compensation, Perks, and Benefits We offer a competitive compensation package, including: A salary commensurate with your experience and qualifications Opportunities for bonuses and incentives based on performance A range of benefits, including health insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off Access to employee discounts and perks, including discounts on company products and services Conclusion If you are a motivated and experienced data analyst looking for a new challenge, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
