Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Customer Service Representative to join our team in supporting the Maine State-Based Marketplace Consumer Assistance Center. As a Remote Customer Service Representative, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to consumers, including answering incoming calls, responding to inquiries, and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner. This is a full-time, remote position that offers a flexible and comfortable work environment, allowing you to work from the comfort of your own home. Key Responsibilities Answer incoming calls from consumers, including the general public, prospective enrollees, and people assisting enrollees or acting on their behalf, in accordance with all performance standards, policy, and procedures, and protocols. Respond effectively to all forms of inbound and outbound contacts, including phone calls, emails, and mail. Track and document all inquiries using the applicable systems, ensuring accurate and timely resolution of consumer issues. Process new applications for health care coverage via the telephone, including building tax household, household income, eligibility determinations, interpreting determinations made by the Marketplace, and enrollment into health plans. Process life event changes, demographic updates, disenrollment requests, and special enrollment periods as requested, ensuring that consumers receive timely and accurate support. Facilitate the fulfillment of caller requests for materials via mail, email, or download, providing consumers with the information and resources they need to make informed decisions. Facilitate translation services for non-English speaking callers, ensuring that all consumers have access to the support they need, regardless of their language proficiency. Escalate calls or issues to the appropriate designated staff for resolution as needed, ensuring that complex issues are addressed in a timely and effective manner. Attend meetings and trainings as requested, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of all programs and systems, and staying current with industry trends and best practices. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, with 6 months to 2 years of experience in customer service or a related field. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with consumers, colleagues, and other stakeholders. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues in a timely and professional manner. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high volume of incoming calls and inquiries. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to accurately document and track consumer interactions. Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and as part of a remote team. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following preferred qualifications will be considered an asset: Experience working in a call center or customer service environment, with a strong understanding of customer service principles and practices. Knowledge of health care systems and programs, including Medicaid, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act. Experience working with diverse populations, including low-income families, individuals with disabilities, and non-English speaking communities. Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with consumers who speak languages other than English.
