Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Med/Surg team on a per diem basis, working 12-hour night shifts. Our Med/Surg unit is a fast-paced and dynamic environment that requires strong critical thinking skills, effective communication, and a commitment to patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities Assume responsibility for nursing care and outcomes for a group of patients for a designated time frame, providing care via the nursing process in collaboration with other members of the health team. Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient progress toward goal achievement. Document patient assessment, reassessment, progress toward goal achievement, and all other required documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Promote patient safety and quality, including adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals, and communicate effectively with members of the healthcare team, escalating situations as needed. Establish effective caring relationships with staff, patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team, and provide patient/family education and discharge planning, utilizing resources and considering patient/family readiness, barriers, and alternatives. Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide nursing care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-related criteria pertinent to the patients served in the assigned area. Essential Qualifications Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program. Current Registered Nurse License in the state of New York. BLS Certification. Minimum of 1 year of experience in Med/Surg nursing. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working in a fast-paced, acute care setting. Certification in Med/Surg nursing or a related specialty. Experience with electronic medical records and other healthcare technology. Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations. Skills and Competencies Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams.
