Job Summary As a Parks and Recreation Specialist at blithequark, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our park visitors have a positive and enjoyable experience. Your primary responsibilities will include providing excellent customer service, addressing inquiries, and ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment within our parks. You will work closely with our maintenance staff, park rangers, and other team members to achieve our goals. This part-time position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic outdoor environment, interact with diverse groups of people, and contribute to the success of our parks and recreation programs. Key Responsibilities Greet visitors and groups, providing a warm and welcoming experience Provide information about blithequark's parks, programs, events, and activities Handle cash transactions, including working as a cashier, assisting with set-up and sales, balancing a register, and completing night deposits Respond to customer inquiries via in-person interactions, phone calls, and emails, resolving concerns and complaints promptly and professionally Direct visitors to appropriate resources for additional information or assistance Assist with the registration and renewal of park memberships, program registrations, facility rentals, and merchandise sales Educate visitors on park rules and regulations to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience Monitor park areas for compliance with safety guidelines, reporting any safety concerns or incidents to the appropriate authorities Collaborate with maintenance staff to ensure park areas are clean and well-maintained, reporting any maintenance issues or hazards to the appropriate department Work collaboratively with other park staff and departments, attending team meetings and training sessions as required Assist with administrative duties, such as data entry, filing, and record-keeping, compiling and preparing reports related to customer service activities Provide traffic control and preparation for parking lots on special event days and other occasions as required Project a positive image in both conduct and appearance, observing and enforcing all blithequark's rules and regulations Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you must: Be at least 18 years of age and a high school graduate Have a valid driver's license Possess excellent customer service and communication skills Have a friendly and approachable demeanor Be able to handle challenging situations with tact and diplomacy Have basic computer skills for data entry and communication Be flexible to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are desirable: Knowledge or interest in parks and outdoor activities Basic math skills and knowledge of cash control procedures Ability to use a cash register Previous experience in customer service, cash handling, or a related field Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a team environment Basic problem-solving and conflict resolution skills Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands Career Growth and Learning Benefits At blithequark, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
