Experienced Online Teaching Assistant - Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) for Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT)

About the Role We're looking for a skilled and passionate Online Teaching Assistant to mentor students in our Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) course. As a TA, you'll play a vital role in guiding students through the course material, providing individualized support, and helping them achieve their learning objectives. This is a remote contract position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere. Key Responsibilities Provide one-on-one mentoring to assigned students in the CIC course, ensuring they have the support needed to succeed. Guide students to the prescribed course material, helping them navigate the learning management system and access relevant resources. Observe and evaluate student performance through assignments, quizzes, and examinations, providing timely and constructive feedback. Participate in live sessions using AAPC's virtual classroom platform, assisting faculty and engaging with students. Mentor students using a variety of teaching styles, creating interesting and relevant assignments that demonstrate real-world applications. Be available for student consultation through office hours or scheduled appointments, using virtual platforms, phone, or email. Attend orientation sessions to become familiar with AAPC's policies, procedures, and learning management system. Respond to student coaching questions within 48 hours, providing clear and helpful guidance. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you'll need: A current and valid Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) certification. Prior teaching experience in corporate training, preferably with adult students. 2-3 years of production coding or auditing experience. Current knowledge of the relevant discipline (inpatient coding). Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching adult learners. Commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring students. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Prior experience teaching online or in a hybrid format. Experience with teaching fully online or in hybrid formats. Skills and Competencies To excel as an Online Teaching Assistant, you'll need: The ability to use technology effectively in teaching, including AAPC's learning management system and virtual classroom platform. Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing. Good organizational skills and timeliness in responding to student inquiries. The ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with students and colleagues.
