Job Details and Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in the design and improvement of the upcoming age of networking innovation. The group is responsible for designing and upgrading the operating system networking components across Apple's range of products, including all macOS, iOS, watchOS, and tvOS-based items. Specific areas of responsibility include networking API, protocols, and networking interfaces. The ideal candidate should have an outstanding practical understanding and working knowledge of TCP/IP and related networking technologies. Framework-level programming design experience is also essential. Design and improve the next generation of networking technology Participate in the development of networking API, protocols, and networking interfaces Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of networking components Troubleshoot and resolve networking issues using various tools and techniques Stay up-to-date with the latest networking technologies and trends Key Capabilities and Qualifications To be successful in this role, you should have: Experience creating business networking software and/or hardware products Solid programming design and development skills, including C, C++, or Objective-C programming language experience In-depth knowledge of the TCP/IP suite of protocols (including IPv6) BSD/Linux kernel network stack experience Network troubleshooting skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills WiFi switch concepts, OpenWRT experience an plus Basic understanding of IP routing concepts and protocols Essential and Preferred Qualifications The successful candidate should have: BS in Computer Science or equivalent networking programming development experience macOS and iOS development experience API development experience Wireless networking technologies and standards (Wi-Fi and cellular) Network troubleshooting tools (e.g., packet sniffers, protocol analyzers) Preferred qualifications include experience with cloud-based networking technologies, scripting languages such as Python or Perl, and experience with agile development methodologies.
