Experienced Mental Health Crisis Intervention Specialist - 988 Chat/Text Support and Suicide Prevention

Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Mental Health Crisis Intervention Specialist to join our 24/7/365 mental health crisis/suicide prevention focused team. As a remote position, you will handle incoming chat/text messages through the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL), also known as 988, providing brief clinical screenings, risk assessments, and appropriate service linkage for individuals experiencing emotional distress. Key Responsibilities Provides telephonic or chat clinical screenings and risk assessments to individuals in crisis Answers crisis contacts via the chat/text platform to assess for suicide, safety, and identify appropriate community resources to best meet individual needs Conducts follow-up calls for individuals who are deemed moderate to high risk for suicide Meets the ethical and clinical standards in compliance with all accreditation Actively participates in ongoing supervision, training, and team meetings Assists in administrative tasks as needed Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field; or be a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist Six months to one year of related crisis experience is preferred Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate via virtual methods Demonstrated high-level customer service skills and professional etiquette Knowledge and competency in providing service linkage and referrals for programs, services, and other community resources Knowledge of suicide assessments and skill in providing crisis intervention Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience working in a crisis intervention or mental health setting Knowledge of trauma-informed care and principles Experience working with diverse populations and communities Bilingual or multilingual skills Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong active listening and empathy skills Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong time management and organizational skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion Career Growth and Development At blithequark, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
