About the Role As a Mechanical Engineer IV at Generac Clean Energy, you'll play a leading role in the design, validation, and production of our next-generation clean energy products. Key Responsibilities Develop mechanical components and assemblies for next-gen clean energy products, ensuring innovation, manufacturability, quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Design, prototype, test, and validate products into production and sustaining, collaborating with cross-functional teams including design studio, hardware engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality, and operations. Deliver solutions that are optimized for form, function, quality, cost, and experience, presenting and documenting work for recording and review purposes. Ensure solutions are manufacturable, serviceable, and compliant with regulatory requirements, mentoring engineers and helping build effective processes. Solve electronic integration challenges related to thermal management, electrical isolation, interconnects, and EMI/EMC. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you'll need: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with strong fundamentals. A minimum of 7 years of industry mechanical design experience, with a proven track record of leading multiple products from architecture into mass production. Expertise in selecting engineering materials for function, aesthetics, and compliance, as well as design for manufacturability and assembly. Experience with validation testing, product reliability, and failure analysis, with proficiency in 3D CAD (Solidworks and Creo preferred) and 2D drafting, GD&T, and tolerance analysis. Expertise in contract manufacturing, 6 sigma, inspection, and measurement, with experience in 5 or more mass production processes such as stamping, sheet metal, welding, textures, and cosmetic part finishes. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge: A Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A record of developing multiple quality products into production, with experience designing solutions for battery energy storage systems. Experience designing for automotive or NEMA/IP rated products, with knowledge of UL 9540A regulatory requirements and testing. Experience with rapid prototyping (3D printing, quick-turn mockups) and structural FEA, with the ability to perform simulations. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with peers and leadership.
