Job Overview This critical role will be responsible for executing strategies that support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of the ocean product. Working closely with the Managing Director of Ocean, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting carrier development, pricing, analyzing carrier service, routings, carrier performance, and addressing carrier service issues. This position will also serve as an ocean subject matter expert, supporting sales and operations teams to drive business growth and excellence. Key Responsibilities Implement and communicate strategies to increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, enhance service, and support adherence to the preferred network. Assist in implementing pricing programs, reviewing volume targets, and developing an ocean strategy that enhances the effectiveness of sales to achieve account development and yield enhancement expectations. Communicate internally and externally to outline strategy, market conditions, and work closely with the Managing Director, Ocean, the global trade lane team, sales, and operations to communicate direction and deliverables. Direct and indirect customer contact will be required, ensuring exceptional service quality and building strong relationships with our customers. Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded, and assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity. Work with the Managing Director, Ocean, and the regional ocean management team to promote the ocean product and support sales and operations as needed. Manage the annual budget, controlling, monitoring, and reporting results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets. Collaborate with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product, ensuring consistent messaging and branding. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will require: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with at least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, analyzing ocean rates, and routing. Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus, and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is essential. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and strategies to both internal and external stakeholders. Business-oriented and remarkable business acumen, with strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Advanced degree in a related field, such as logistics, supply chain management, or international business. Professional certifications, such as a Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or a Certified Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD) designation. Experience working with global trade lanes, sales, and operations teams to drive business growth and excellence. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop strategic recommendations.
