We are currently seeking an experienced and engaging Long Term Substitute Teacher to join our high school faculty in Chatsworth, CA, to teach British Literature for the Fall 2023 semester. About the Position The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching high school English, with a focus on British Literature, to students in grades 9-12. This is a full-time position expected to begin immediately and last for up to 12 weeks or through the end of the Fall semester. As a Long Term Substitute Teacher at blithequark, you will be an integral part of our faculty team, working collaboratively with colleagues to maximize student learning and growth. Key Responsibilities Teach high school English, with a focus on British Literature, to students in grades 9-12 Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that integrate technology and promote student-centered learning Provide individualized support and feedback to students to ensure their academic success Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum and instructional strategies Participate in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and other school events Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate with parents and guardians as needed Qualifications and Requirements To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you should have: Essential Qualifications A minimum of a bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field Strong knowledge of British Literature and experience teaching high school English Excellent classroom management skills and ability to engage students in learning Comfort with integrating technology into the classroom to enhance student learning Strong communication and interpersonal skills Preferred Qualifications A master's degree in English, Education, or a related field Teaching certificate or credential in English or a related subject area Prior experience teaching in a Catholic educational setting Familiarity with Marianist education and its characteristics Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you should possess: Strong subject matter knowledge and pedagogical skills Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills Adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced educational environment Career Growth and Learning Benefits At blithequark, we are committed to the growth and development of our faculty and staff.
