As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in designing and testing the battery cells that will power our satellites and enable them to operate efficiently in the harsh environment of space. Job Responsibilities As a Battery Cell Engineer at Amazon, you will be responsible for: Participating with multidisciplinary teams to define battery cell performance requirements for next-generation satellite power systems Designing and executing comprehensive test plans to screen, qualify, and validate new Li-ion battery cells Developing models using in-house test data and making recommendations for cell selection and qualification Operating battery cyclers and performing various tests and procedures for testing Li-ion cells Analyzing test data to gain insights into Li-ion cell performance and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive design and testing improvements Maintaining accurate documentation of test procedures, results, and findings Ensuring adherence to strict safety protocols and procedures during testing and handling of Li-ion batteries About the Team The battery design team at Amazon is a dynamic and innovative group that is responsible for designing and testing battery cells for our satellite power systems. Key Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field 3+ years of experience in the development and testing of battery cells in a state-of-the-art setting Preferred Qualifications We would also like to see: A graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field Experience with battery cyclers (e.g. Arbin, Netware) and testing procedures Knowledge of Li-ion battery testing and characterization techniques (e.g. OCV, EIS, DCIR, Hysteresis, dQ/dV, HPPC, cycle life, calendar life) Experience with DOE methodology for optimizing electrochemical performance Strong understanding of Li-ion battery technology, materials, and degradation mechanisms Familiarity with electrochemistry and cell characterization techniques Experience with data analysis software (e.g. MATLAB, Python) Excellent communication and collaboration skills What We Offer At Amazon, we offer a comprehensive compensation package that includes: A competitive hourly rate of $24-$34 per hour A full-time schedule with opportunities for overtime and career growth A dynamic and supportive work environment that values innovation and creativity Opportunities for professional development and training A comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage Why Work at Amazon?
