Key Responsibilities Taking your place as a core member of an agile team driving the latest development practices Opportunity to work on solutions to enable Cloud Native Engineering Writing code and unit tests, working with API specs and automation Identifying opportunities for adopting new technologies Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and develop REST APIs for high-volume clients Working with continuous integration tools, such as Jenkins and Gitlab CI Designing and developing custom solutions using the latest open-source technologies Participating in the development of automation tooling to support CI/CD within American Express across all platforms Creating self-service dashboards and reporting to enable teams to measure end-to-end product delivery time Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, followed by 5+ years of experience in a modern development stack (Java, Python) Experience in application design, software development, and testing, preferably in an Agile environment using distributed and mainframe technologies Hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering and a deep understanding of Linux OS Experience and understanding of Mainframe CI/CD tools Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills Aptitude for learning and applying new technologies and translating them into working software Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external teams Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are desirable: Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MongoDb, Couchbase, or Cassandra Experience designing and developing REST APIs for high-volume clients Experience with continuous integration tools, such as Jenkins and Gitlab CI Experience with automated build and test frameworks Experience with collaboration tools, such as GitHub, JIRA, Confluence, etc. Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong programming skills in Java and Python Experience with cloud-based technologies, such as AWS or Azure Knowledge of containerization using Docker Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration tools Strong understanding of software development principles, including design patterns and testing Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities Strong communication and collaboration skills Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At American Express, we are committed to helping our engineers grow and develop their careers. Compensation, Perks, and Benefits We offer a competitive salary range of $85,000 to $150,000 per year, depending on experience, plus bonus and benefits.
