Job Summary We are seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to join our team as Early Literacy Tutors. As an Early Literacy Tutor, you will play a vital role in helping TK-2nd grade students develop essential early literacy skills, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, and comprehension. Key Responsibilities Attend and participate in comprehensive training programs, including SEEDS of Early Literacy and SIPPS, to develop expertise in research-based early literacy strategies. Provide intentional, data-driven literacy instruction and intervention to improve the reading skills of TK-2nd grade students, focusing on the "Big Five Literacy Skills." Collaborate with Lead Teacher Coaches and Principals to set instructional schedules, report student progress, and make data-informed modifications. Implement scripted early literacy interventions with identified students in one-on-one and small group settings, achieving high fidelity to each scripted intervention. Assess student outcomes and progress using benchmark and progress monitoring assessments, and record data accurately in online databases or Excel documents. Participate in literacy coaching sessions to review student progress, plan, problem-solve, and set goals, incorporating constructive feedback based on observations. Record student and program data completely and accurately on a weekly basis or as designated by the intervention program. Participate in site-sponsored trainings, meetings, or other activities, including Orientation and Data Review Meetings with the classroom teacher and coaches. Provide reading instruction for TK-2nd grade classrooms as assigned and ensure timely completion of electronic timesheets. Qualifications To be considered for this position, you must meet the following qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Strong interest in education, specifically helping children develop early language and literacy skills. Speak, read, write, and understand English fluently. Computer skills, including the ability to navigate and use online database systems and email daily. Energetic, results-oriented, student-focused style, coupled with strong planning and time management skills. Must be 18 years old or older. Preferred qualifications include: College coursework, college degree, or equivalent work experience or strong community experience. Experience working with young children, preferably in an early childhood setting. Ability to attend the 4-day TK SEEDS of Early Learning training and/or SIPPS Training, as designated by Early Literacy Coaches. Patience, positive attitude, adaptability, flexibility, sense of humor, and ability to relate to diverse groups of people and sustain relationships/rapport. Valid California Driver's License, if applicable. Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain quality-working relationships with students, coaches, school administrators, and parents. Ability to work separately with a child within a larger context of child/tutor groups and maintain confidentiality about students. Strong planning and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities. Ability to adapt to the needs of students and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced work environment. Strong computer skills, including the ability to navigate and use online database systems and email daily. Ability to operate personal computers, related software, and other office equipment.
