Focus in Data Infrastructure Groups Our data infrastructure groups are the backbone of our operations, and we have several key areas of focus: Database Access Platform : This team builds and operates a flexible query gateway that facilitates data reflections to work at sub-millisecond latencies, allowing arenaflex microservices to more easily store, consume, and manage their data. This group holds significant responsibility in enabling arenaflex microservices to meet their growing and evolving data needs. Data Platform Infrastructure : Acting as a platform for our own data platforms, our shared framework and tooling enable arenaflex to rapidly innovate in providing cutting-edge data and analytics systems to the rest of the organization without building customized platforms for each new system. We create high-impact infrastructure, control, and deployment systems that are tuned for the needs of running our data systems at scale. Big Data Figure : Responsible for providing the cloud-native platform for distributed data processing at arenaflex. This team is crucial for batch data processing in Data Platform, offering support for Flash, ETL data into the Petabytes-scale data warehouse, and accessing that data using Flash and Voila/TrinoDB. It also provides sub-second latency for a specific class of queries using Druid. Big Data Solution : Offers the platform for designing, scheduling, and executing big data jobs and workflows in a self-serve way. These platforms include critical services that have all ETL and ML tasks running on Big Data Systems at arenaflex. Key Responsibilities As a Distributed Systems Engineer at arenaflex, your key responsibilities will include: Designing and building robust, scalable, and highly available distributed systems infrastructure. Collaborating with engineers, product managers, and TPMs across teams to drive cross-functional initiatives. Applying your programming and analytical problem-solving skills to address real business needs at scale. Contributing to open-source communities and sharing our experiences with Netflix OSS. Working on high-impact projects that involve building features and performance enhancements for our data systems. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you should have: 2+ years of experience in building large-scale distributed systems features or applications. Proficiency in the design and development of RESTful web services. Experience in building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems. Knowledge of Java or other object-oriented programming languages. A BS in Computer Science or a related field. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience with cloud-native technologies and distributed data processing frameworks. Knowledge of containerization using Docker and orchestration using Kubernetes. Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
