Job Overview The Data Science Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies, processes, and frameworks to unite and analyze various data sets, including structured and unstructured data. This role will oversee the daily operational activities that create and execute strategic plans for a designated region, manage team(s) assigned to projects, and ensure that resources are allocated accurately according to strategic plans and properly represented. Key Responsibilities Develops, creates, and carries out techniques, processes, and frameworks to unite and analyze various data sets, including structured and unstructured data. Manages the daily operational activities that create and execute strategic plans for a designated region, directs team(s) appointed to projects, and may oversee executions. Ensures that resources are allocated accurately according to strategic plans and properly represented. Creates programming programs, algorithms, dashboards, data tools, and queries to clean, model, integrate, and evaluate datasets. Stays up-to-date with new scientific techniques and technologies. Collaborates with functional specialty units to drive business solutions and direction. Establishes credibility with partners while managing expectations, ensures regular, consistent, and effective communications with colleagues and partners to define expectations and set boundaries properly. May develop a budget for a functional area, manages budget to plan, and may be responsible for area budget and delivering against business objectives/goals. Allocates available resources to meet operating targets, creates and mentors staff through on-boarding, open communication, training, and development opportunities, and performance management processes. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to have: A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, computational, or technical discipline. Experience with analysis and statistical software like SQL, R, Python, Excel, Hadoop, SAS, SPSS, and/or others to perform analysis and interpret data. In-depth knowledge of SQL and open-source data science and statistics packages like Python, R, Spark, etc. Experience establishing and maintaining key relationships with internal (peers, colleagues, and leadership) and external (business community, customers, and vendors) partners within a matrix organization to develop strategies that meet office objectives within budget and timelines. At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace. At least 2 years of direct management, indirect leadership, and/or cross-functional team leadership. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state). Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Advanced degree in a quantitative, computational, or technical discipline. Experience communicating at the executive level. Experience leading cross-functional teams.
