Position Overview As a Customer Service Event Staff Member at Southern Methodist University (SMU), you will be responsible for providing outstanding service to all guests attending athletic events. This position includes roles such as ushers and ticket takers, ensuring that each guest has a positive experience from the moment they arrive at the venue until they leave. You will play a key role in directing guests to their seats, assisting with ticket scanning, answering questions, and ensuring that the venue is operating smoothly. Key Responsibilities Provide exceptional customer service to all guests attending athletic events, ensuring a positive experience from arrival to departure Direct guests to their seats, assist with ticket scanning, and answer questions in a friendly and efficient manner Ensure the venue is operating smoothly, addressing any issues or concerns that may arise during events Work collaboratively with other event staff members to create a welcoming atmosphere for fans, families, and all attendees Be available to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, mainly scheduled between August and March Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide friendly and efficient service to guests. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to think on your feet and address any issues that may arise. A positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to excellence are essential for this position. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in customer service, event operations, or sports management is preferred, but not required Knowledge of athletic events, sports management, or event operations is a plus Availability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is required Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in a variety of weather conditions Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
