Job Overview The primary responsibility of the Shipping Clerk and Packer will be to accept and process deliveries, verify the accuracy of packages against orders and invoices, and prepare packages for shipping. Key Responsibilities Receive shipments and sign paperwork upon receipt, ensuring that all deliveries are properly documented and recorded. Pack or unpack a wide variety of items into or from cartons, boxes, or similar containers, as requested, with attention to detail and care to prevent damage. Inspect contents to ensure they are undamaged and verify packages according to order and invoices, checking for quantity, quality, price, and other relevant details. Contact supervisor if a mistake is identified, to ensure prompt resolution and minimize delays. Label deliveries and allocate them to their designated place, maintaining accurate records and ensuring that all packages are properly tracked and accounted for. Ensure invoices are signed and paid for satisfactory deliveries, and process all company shipments with required paperwork, including shipping labels. Maintain accurate records, pick up parcels from local stores, and prepare packages for shipping, as needed. Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need to have: A working knowledge of computer programs for entering data, with proficiency in using office automation systems an asset. A solid understanding of health and safety regulations, to ensure a safe working environment. Basic math and recording abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. Great communication and interpersonal abilities, with a customer-focused approach and a positive attitude. A keen eye for detail, with the ability to inspect contents and verify packages accurately. A high school diploma, with additional education or training in logistics, administration, or a related field an asset. The ability to read, write, and speak English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to work well independently as well as with a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to changing priorities and deadlines. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Professional interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in customer service or a related field. Proficiency in using office automation systems, including Microsoft Word and Outlook. Proficiency in writing and preparing memorandums and project papers, with excellent written communication skills. Knowledge of Postal Service requirements and codes, with experience in logistics or shipping an asset.
