As a Customer Engineer for Infrastructure Modernization, you'll play a pivotal role in helping leading companies, educational institutions, government agencies, and other organizations unlock the full potential of our products. You'll work closely with customers to understand their unique challenges, develop tailored cloud solutions, and drive the adoption of Google Cloud technologies. About the Role As a Customer Engineer, you'll be the technical expert and trusted advisor to our customers, helping them navigate the complexities of cloud infrastructure modernization. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address technical roadblocks, develop proof-of-concepts, and deliver presentations to technical stakeholders and executive leaders. Your expertise will enable customers to maximize the benefits of Google Cloud, drive business growth, and achieve their digital transformation goals. Key Responsibilities Work with customers to understand their business and technical requirements, and develop creative cloud solutions to address their challenges. Design and prototype Google Cloud product integrations in customer/partner environments, and guide customers through assessments of their existing legacy application environments. Provide recommendations on application modernization roadmaps, integration strategies, enterprise architectures, and application infrastructure required to successfully implement complete solutions on Google Cloud. Manage technical relationships with Google's customers, including product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and coordination of additional technical resources. Collaborate with fellow sales Googlers to problem-solve key technical issues for customers, and liaise with product marketing management and engineering teams to stay on top of industry trends and devise enhancements to Google Cloud products. Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you'll need: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. At least 10 years of experience with cloud-native architectures in a customer-facing or support role. Proven experience engaging with technical stakeholders and executive leaders, and presenting complex technical information in a clear and concise manner. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following skills and experience will give you a competitive edge: Experience with cloud or on-premises infrastructure engineering, including virtualization and/or containerization platforms. A background in migrating applications and services to cloud platforms, and experience with security controls such as encryption, identity management, and access control. Familiarity with attack vectors and penetration testing, and a strong understanding of industry trends and emerging technologies. Skills and Competencies To excel as a Customer Engineer, you'll need: Strong technical expertise in cloud infrastructure modernization, including Google Cloud products and services. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear, actionable advice. A customer-centric mindset, with a passion for understanding and addressing customer needs. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop creative solutions. A collaborative and adaptable approach, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Compensation and Benefits The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$214,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location, and individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
