Job Overview We are excited to offer a unique and rewarding opportunity for a Behavior Technician to work with students on the Autism Spectrum, ages 3-22, in a 1:1 setting. As a Behavior Technician, you will play a vital role in implementing programming, under the guidance of a consultant, to address Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals for each student. This position offers flexible scheduling, tuition reimbursement for full-time employees, and is an excellent opportunity for individuals pursuing a career in Special Education or Applied Behavioral Analysis. Key Responsibilities Apply the principles of behavior science to tutor students and effectively manage behaviors as needed Run data-driven practices as assigned, including implementing "Precision Teaching" and discrete-trial training Implement direct instruction programs and techniques, using explicit instruction as assigned Perform habit training duties and record accurate data Adhere to behavior management programs assigned to each student and arrange and maintain a safe and effective learning environment Submit all data and records by established deadlines Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong foundation in behavior science and a passion for working with students with autism. The following qualifications are essential: Associate's degree or higher in a related field, such as Special Education, Psychology, or Applied Behavioral Analysis Experience working with students with autism or emotional/behavioral disorders Strong understanding of behavior science principles and their application in a educational setting Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience with "Precision Teaching" and discrete-trial training Knowledge of explicit instruction techniques and direct instruction programs Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel Previous experience working in a special education setting or with students with autism Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess a unique blend of skills and competencies, including: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and inform instruction Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Passion for working with students with autism and a commitment to providing high-quality support and instruction Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At New Story Schools, we are committed to providing our employees with opportunities for growth and development.
