Job Overview We are seeking a Part-Time Adult Med-Surg Clinical Nursing Instructor to join our team at the Tyson's Corner, VA campus. As a clinical nursing instructor, you will have the opportunity to develop your nurse educator experience, partnering with healthcare organizations located throughout the tri-state area. No teaching experience is required, and nurses with solid clinical experience and a completed MSN are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Implement the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service to the College, community, health system, and profession. Assume responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads, including planning clinical experiences and providing direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students delivering nursing care to individuals or groups. Evaluate and provide documented feedback to students on their level of performance based on course objectives, and be available for remediation as required or needed. Orient and maintain current knowledge related to agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations, with the assistance of agency/clinical personnel. Develop and post written clinical assignments consistent with students' knowledge base, skill competency, and individual learning needs, and correct and return homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork, and other written work in a timely manner. Contribute to the ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and the College, and may teach didactic course content under the supervision of the course coordinator. Keep the course coordinator informed of all student and agency issues and concerns, and work with college administration, staff, and other faculty members to improve the overall operation of the college and student satisfaction rates. Essential Qualifications A master's (MSN) or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university. An unencumbered professional nursing license in Virginia or NLC Compact state. At least two years of professional experience within the last five years in the area of instruction as a registered nurse. Teaching or precepting experience is preferred but not required. Genuine passion for nursing, education, and lifelong learning, with exceptional subject matter expertise and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Eager to serve students and colleagues with passion, respect, and care, and operate with a sense of responsibility and purpose, with the desire to enrich colleagues, students, and the broader community. Preferred Qualifications Experience in adult med-surg nursing, with a strong understanding of the needs of adult patients and their families in relation to health promotion and management of conditions that require acute and chronic care. Knowledge of the nursing process and its application in clinical practice, with the ability to develop and implement effective clinical teaching strategies. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and healthcare professionals in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities. Compensation, Perks, and Benefits The expected compensation rate for this position is between $1,120 per assignment to $7,245 per assignment, depending on the candidate's education and experience. Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as type of course taught, experience and training, geographic location, licensure and certifications, market factors, departmental budgets, and responsibility.
