Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and skilled Staff Assistant to provide administrative assistance and support to stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and students, in the Department of Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology (MMET). Reporting to the Department Chair, this position will facilitate communication with peers, coordinate tasks, and facilitate a team-based environment by willingly providing backup for other support staff when needed for events, projects, and activities. Key Responsibilities Assist with the Academic Action process, including letters, tracking, appointments, contracts, and other related tasks Coordinate scheduling and processing of change of program requests, including tracking, advisor assignment, and communication with stakeholders Provide logistics support and planning for college and department events, such as New Student Orientation, Commencement, and Diversity Events Collaborate with the Director of Community Engagement and Student Diversity Initiatives to plan, publicize, and execute events Assist with hosting hospitality events to welcome new students and families, including coordinating department tours Provide administrative support to the Department and Program Chairs, as well as other administrative staff Manage the department's electronic file system and process forms Schedule academic visits, including coordinating ambassadors, lab tours, and faculty visits Maintain office and hospitality supplies using an electronic ordering system Manage electronic display boards and social media promotion Create, mail, and track student certificates for professional trainings Essential Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required 2-4 years of related experience, preferably in an academic setting Demonstrated customer service skills Detail-oriented and strong follow-through and organizational skills Team player with strong written and interpersonal skills Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a higher education setting Knowledge of academic policies and procedures Experience with event planning and coordination Strong communication and problem-solving skills Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At RIT, we are committed to providing our employees with opportunities for growth and development.
